Music Gen AI discussion

We both have rights to do whatever we want with our music. Right? I am not criticizing your choice, so please do the same.

Believe me. Periodically inspires no worse than Hans Zimmer)) The big evil is people who give away licenses for five bucks)))

Hi all - I’ve moved these posts into a separate thread, and will get some more information for you about the Music Gen tool. A lot of experimentation has been taking place with new tools in the Envato Labs area - I’m getting back up to speed on those projects after taking some time off over Easter, so will post when I have more to share.

Hello, Ben. On what tracks this dataset was trained?

I believe AI is good for ‘Learning purpose’, not for creating elements or replacing ‘Human Arts’.

Well then, you’re in for some disappointment.

Hey guys! So has anyone tried Elements Music Gen? I noticed it’s fully launched but I still can’t find samples or reviews in YT or around the web yet…

@LumenMedia Sorry about the very long delay!

MusicGen is one of the newest tools in our Envato Labs lineup, which is our testing ground for new ways to meet changing customer needs.

Each Labs tool is designed to address a customer behaviour, not a specific AI model. MusicGen, for example, uses text prompts and commercial GenAI tools to generate short tracks. Other Labs tools offer similar features like ImageGen & VideoGen, as well as prompt enhancement tools.

To clarify: the AI models behind MusicGen do not use any Envato Author content. While the tools we use may change, we choose models that support commercial use and reliably deliver high-quality results.

I’ve seen a few questions about why we’re developing these tools and how they fit with the author-created content on Envato Elements. These are not about replacing human authors: we’re confident there will continue to be strong demand for high-quality, emotive, and nuanced content created by our author community.

What these tools are about is helping Envato attract and retain more subscribers in a fast-moving market, complementing our existing product. A healthy, growing customer base benefits all of us, and these tools are aimed at supporting the evolving ways customers work, keeping them engaged with our platform and community.

The question remains open. Whose music did these models learn on?..

As far as I understood, no Envato music is used in the tool so far. Now, if the third party GenAI is, that’s a different story…

But then again, it would be cool if someone posted a tune created with the new tool.

Cheers. :robot:

Thanks for answering. Not everything clear of course, for example who offered this dataset.

Haven’t how this tool works yet, but if it is able to create corporate music than it must have been trained on Envato’s authors music - there are no other options except they trained it on other stocks authors.

Hey, @BenLeong, @KingDog! I assume this question will be ignored as usual but it’s worth the try anyway. Also, if any of you guys know…

What this cute tiny pen aside every Elements track does? Does it just leads the user to the Music Gen tool or it tries to create an AI sound-a-like? If so, wonder how it works with the tracks from authors that opted-out.
