Hi, I had looked and saw some similar threads but nothing dealing with .mov transition files, but basically i wanted to know how to utilize these and what program they would work in. Very new to the motion graphics so help is very much appreciated. Thanks!
If you’re talking about “Motion Graphics” section. Then you can use any NLE software like Adobe premiere, Sony Vegas. Also compositing software like After Effects.

How would I use them in after effects? Would it just be like doing a matte?

Put the transition between your video. Like example, place your transition before goes to video 2…
They are just .mov files though and have a black background… would a luma matte eliminate the black?

Yes is .mov file… what video software you using it? if you using Sony Vegas, make the compositing mode Screen or Add.

You need to use blend/transfer/composite modes. In FinalCut you need to rightclick a transition file on the timeline, go to “Composite Mode” then select “Add”. Setting those mov files to an “Add” composite mode will turn the black into transparent. Then you just need to align the brightest part of the transition clip at the end of the clip you are transitioning from.

I am only using FCP 7 (No AE). I put the transition over the middle between 2 clips. I only see the transition and not the clips. Help?
