Motion Graphics or Stock Footage?

Ahoy!

Most of the stuff in my portfolio is planets and starfields and the like. Due to budgetary concerns, it may surprise people to learn that none of these were actually filmed in space. Crazy, I know. So as a result, they’re in the motion graphics category.

Now I’m working on some clips that include live action footage and images of real places, that have been jazzed up and altered slightly to represent different planets. So my question is, should I stick with the motion graphics category, or go with stock footage? Would people be angry if they found out I hadn’t actually gone to Mars with my camera?

Thanks!
