As long as it is available - envato don’t own items so they cannot guarantee that an author may not stop supporting or updating an item
And this theme is PHP script or wordpress?

You get lifetime access to the item and license to use it.
The only caveat is if the author removes the item from sale on envato then you will not be able to download it again and there will be no more updates
