I’m a game designer and have been using envato for a while, however it is incredibly hard to find a bunch of sound effects that sounds the same. The site would be vastly improved if there were more features to help the search experience.
I need to find a bunch of sounds that go well together, say 15-25 per mini-game (car race, pinball, etc). My normal process is to try to find good sounds for a specific game hook (a jump, game over, whatever). When I get a great match, I would like to be able to find similar-sounding items for other hooks. That would allow me to identify whether there are enough sound of the same style available.
The current ‘similar’ sound feature is close to useless as it matches keywords and return a host of random things. “More from the author” is beyond useless as most will have thousands of sounds and narrowing it down is impossible.
I’m not sure how things work on the author’s side but if they make a bunch of mechanical 70’s sounds, could there be a way for them to tag them together as part of a “goes well with” option?
Better options to refine searches would be great: exclude author, exclude tags, etc.
