That is the correct formula indeed. You’ve earned $1.05 with this $7 sale.
this is demoralizing. Why would any author want to sell on Envato? There are better alternatives who pay more than 50%
In what part of the world taxes are higher than earnings?
Based on photo i’m paying $2.1 of taxes while my earnings are only $1.05.
This is ridiculous, i’m not even USA citizen and i’m paying taxes to USA.
So disappointed!
Ridiculous indeed… and scandalous for sure.
In practice, it looks like this. At earned $ 7 we as authors earn $ 1, and 6 more people who are not creative and have nothing to sell except our work, receive the same per dollar. They are really geniuses and I admire them!
I am also applying for other companies. It’s complete disgrace. We pay more taxes than we earn. It was such a nice company… does not respect authors any more.
my product is worth $31 and after the sale, I only get 8.77. Where is the rest of $22.23?
Envato, so you would want to work for yourself?
I’m sorry to be a stickler for accuracy, but if you ‘pay more taxes than you earn’ then you’d not have any earnings at all… and that’s not the case.
As for looking for other companies, as much as I love Envato with all of my heart, I have signed up to a couple of new stock marketplaces this year, and all of them have required me to fill in a W8 form. It’s the future… but it’s now.
Fill in your tax ID number and you’ll get 10% withheld from US sales rather than 30%. Everyone’s a winner!
Most of the companies does not ask for W8 form. And they pay way more… I mean getting 26% from total price is not acceptable. It seems that envato wants everyone to go non-exclusive, also this way they will earn more. It’s all about the money… but it’s thinking in a short term since authors will stop uploading new tracks. You can’t find any motivation in 26%
How are we direct sellers when money is being kept by Envato for 30 days? If we are direct sellers, money should go to our account after purchase.
I think the tax should be taken from real income of the author, not from total prise.
A quick question on all this fog.
I sold a track 18$ and I got 4.68
with this ‘left amount’ is my W8 applied or not?
I sent the damn filled pdf a month ago.
So I was reading all the topic but I can’t find a clear answer to my doubts.
I am a resident of Canada and I’m seeing that in the tax treaty (https://www.irs.gov/publications/p515/ar02.html#en_US_2015_publink1000225127) Canada has 0 deduction on the taxes like France and I fill my W8 form but I still can see that I have been charged with 30% tax deduction on a US sale. Maybe is a error or I’m missing something , can someone explain me this ,or if need something else ?
Did you also submit your Tax ID with the W-8 form?
You only benefit from a tax treaty if you submit your Tax ID, without Tax Id it is 30% on US sales

Does anyone have a sample of what a Sale Reversal looks like (one with US RWT applied) from the statement.csv file?
Dashboard plus has been updated to show the total amount that has been taxed on sales:

Looks like 30% tax has been withheld for this sale.
You either did not properly filled the W8 form, or did not provide a valid TIN. Or your country does not have a tax treaty with the US.
You said you’ve filled a pdf. Where did you get it? and where did you send it? The W8 is available in the settings tab in your dashboard, no need for additional pdf.
How much will an AFFILIATE earn if he manages to sell an item of price $10 to a US customer ?
