Because that’s double what you’d pay to subscribe to Elements, what would be the point of that when you could find exactly what you want on Elements? Also, it doesn’t matter how many people would like to just buy individual items, there’s no future in that model. Why pay the same price for one item as it would cost to subscribe to Elements for a month?
Market has a future - for better quality or unique items. Honestly, elements items quality are not enough for experienced user.
But, most likely, the market’s business model will have to change. Like decrease fee to bare minimum, like gumroad has. In this case, no advertising is required from Envato, and the author will take care of all advertising for own portfolio.

There is no point in the Market existing with its lack of features, high fees, and exclusivity restrictions. You already mentioned a much better alternative. I do not believe that even if Envato invests in a Market marketing campaign, it will change anything. They probably already tried to do it and failed.

Hey guys, is there any plans to revise the royalties for authors (in to bad way for authors, probably)? Any plans of a progressive scale of author payments as it is now on Shutterstock? Will the commission ratings change? Are you planning to leave your payment provider Trolley and return to integration with Payoneer and direct transfer to banks?

Interested in details about the future of Envato Market. There is no mention of this in the press release. At the moment, Envato Market looks abandoned. For example, item analytics have not been displayed for a long time. Is there any plan to resume work on maintaining and improving Envato Market?

It’ll be similar to when Pond5 was acquired—just a tiny link at the top of the Shutterstock site 
. It seems like things might not change much or get more attention. It’s a bit of a letdown when these platforms are swallowed up and get minimal visibility
