I downloaded a couple music preview files from Envato Market > Audio > Music for a video project. Like an idiot, I renamed the files “media1” and “media2”. The client has approved them and is ready to purchase, but I don’t know how to find the original tracks. One file (media1) has the artist name in the meta data (“original_soundtrack”) but this artist has tons of songs and I can’t listen to each one. Is there a way to upload audio files on the Envato site to identify them? A “reverse lookup”?
If it’s useful, here’s a OneDrive link to the audio files: Audio
Are you able to check your browser’s download history? Even if you renamed the file, your download history will generally preserve the URL for the file, which can be reversed to find the item link.
I have some basic “reverse lookup” capabilities but it would be a couple days before I could fire it up for you, and results aren’t guaranteed, especially if the files were modified in any way (besides being renamed).
Unfortunately, as of my last update in January 2022, Envato Market does not offer a reverse lookup feature where you can upload audio files to identify them. However, there are a few steps you can take to try and identify the original tracks:
Check your Envato Market Downloads: Log in to your Envato Market account and check your download history. Look for the music preview files you downloaded and see if you can identify them based on their titles or descriptions.
Search by Artist Name: Since you found the artist name (“original_soundtrack”) in the metadata of one of the files, try searching for this artist on Envato Market. Look through their portfolio of music tracks to see if you can find the original tracks you downloaded.
Use Audio Recognition Software: You can try using audio recognition software or apps like Shazam or SoundHound. Play the music preview files and see if the software can recognize them and provide information about the original tracks.
Contact Envato Market Support: If you’re unable to identify the original tracks using the above methods, you can reach out to Envato Market support for assistance. Provide them with as much information as possible, including the filenames, any metadata you found, and details about the files you downloaded. They may be able to help you locate the original tracks or provide further guidance.
