Help! AE renders a black screen

I just tried to do my first AE template from Videohive. love the simplicity + quality. You designers are top notch and making my life and work way better. in theory haha.

when I render the file to a movie through AE CS5, the final .mov file is a black screen with no audio?

I have NO idea what to do. I’m pretty good with Photoshop so i understand concepts of Adobe programs, but I haven’t been able to fix this.

Black screen - sounds strange. Maybe you didn’t exported final composition? To make sure, double click at final comp (in ae folders), hit ctrl+m and setup render.

For audio make sure you checked “audio output” in settings:

maybe it’s because I’m on a Mac, but I couldn’t find that anywhere.

ctrl+m is win shortcut for: composition > make movie. Try that.

Or: composition > add to render queue. It’s same

Edit:
I don’t want to confuse you, just ignore the rest of this post

It’s not same.
I just found this http://forums.adobe.com/thread/444204

I didn’t knew this:

“you can select as many compositions as you want in the Project panel, and drag them directly to the Render Queue panel.”

Whenever I add something to the render queue here’s the settings i’m given. IDK how to change them though, if you see something in there.

after it renders, it does the black screen no audio thing. the duration though appears to be accurate.

I don’t know why, but I changed the video settings from “Animation” to “MPEG4” and i’m set!

Are you using adobe media encoder?
