Editorial Use Stock Video

Hi everyone,

I have been uploading Stock videos at Pond5 from the beginning, but sales on their model have really tanked, and I am thinking of moving my portfolio over to Envato Elements. During the Sign-up process, one of the notes said that I would need to supply model releases for buildings and people with recognizable faces. Does Envato really not have an editorial option? I have a lot of stock video clips of people in public settings, street scenes, etc. from around the world where it was not possible to stop everyone and get releases. I am a subscriber at Envato Elements and I have downloaded a lot of stock video of organic settings, street scenes, rescue operations, etc, where I am sure the producer never got releases. Am I missing something here?

Unfortunately, Envato doesn’t currently offer an editorial license, which means for any videos featuring recognizable people or property, you’ll need to provide the appropriate releases, even for footage taken in public places.

Envato’s guidelines require model or property releases for all images and videos containing identifiable individuals or trademarked property, as they are considered commercial content.
