Does anyone know if there is a 'passive' Content ID service?

Is there such a thing as a Content ID programme/service, that simply reports back usage on youtube? - ie the user does not get a claim - the composer simply gets a report of found usages.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, so YouTube’s Content ID doesn’t really have an option where it just reports usage without making a claim. It’s designed to either monetize, block, or track content based on the rights holder’s settings. If you’re a composer looking to just get a report without hitting users with a claim, you might be out of luck with Content ID itself. You’d probably have to look at third-party services or just keep an eye on your YouTube Analytics to see where your music’s being used.

Yes, thanks. I know it’s going to have to be a third-party service - but I’m having no luck so far. All of them seem to integrate the claiming process as well.

Why wouldn’t you want to issue claims?

From what I gathered from my conversation from ContentID service providers, it could technically be possible. Assets can be set to a so called “route to review” mode, that requires a manual review before issuing the claim.

However those service providers are here to make money. They wouldn’t be interested in managing a portfolio they do not intend to monetize. It would not make any business sense.

I also met such a situation, may I ask you how to solve it?

It was just that we are not picking up any matches from before 2016 and were wondering if we could find earlier ones without triggering another batch of current claims.
