Difference between SALES and PURCHASES?

Anybody tell me the difference between SALES and PURCHASES in an theme?

The same thing.

I noticed that the same theme have different number for purchases and sales.
Check in the LIST GRID and then in the DETAILS OF THE THEME this point.

Difference is most likely due to caching. The list view counter updates every view minutes, whereas the item itself seems to update as soon as a purchase is made…

It could be caching or…

A sale might be per a person who buys.
A purchase is total times its been purchased.

For example Person A, Person B and Person C might purchase Item 1 as Regular Licence… and Person B might buy it again… therefore its 3 sales, and 4 purchases?
