Demanding support without purchasing support

With new WP versions we are getting more and more request for support without clients wanting to buy extended support. Threads for 1 star ratings and refunds are creeping in.

Any one else getting the same experience?

I believe it’s better to view the extended support purchasing option more of a bonus than as a real working mechanism. As the experience shows, it is better for us authors to continue supporting the item regardless of support expiration not to get any negative ratings. This is going to stay this way as long as Envato avoids embedding a mechanism where buyers who have their support expired cannot rate the theme any more.

The question is is that against the rules… Since we are seriously thinking of offering ongoing free support.
