Or, u can do it the old fashion way, open up project in cs5, open cs4, go to the bottom layer composition and recreate your project from bottom to top (from solids, lights, cameras, to pre comps etc). Most effective and error proof way imho.
P.S.: Having two monitors really helps allot with this

http://aescripts.com/pt_opensesame/ does it just fine. Once you open in CS4 simply do a “Save as” and you are done.

You must be mad.

But, what if you don’t have the cs4 version still available? I am thinking of upgrading my version to the latest version, will Adobe leave me the license to cs4?

If you already have CS4, then installing a new version of AE won’t get rid of the old one. I have versions of AE on my computer going back to version CS3.

But if you never owned CS4, then you can’t make CS4 projects. CS4 is no longer available.

CS5.5 is able to save backwards as CS5 though, so getting the latest version allows you to go at least as far back as CS5.

Export with pt_opensesame, open in cs4, even cs3 (why not), and save in ae format. Thats what I would do. You can use trial version of After Effects, if you don’t have previous versions

That definitely should be useful. Never heard of this one.
