I just bought an mov file, tried to upload it to Premier and got the “there’s no sound or video track”. Afterwards tried converting it into avi and mp4 in VLC, but still didnt work…Pllllss help, getting so frustrating…::(((
Hi @csabaciag That does sound frustrating, sorry to hear that. Sounds like you’re on a PC and it’s a known issue with QuickTime which is no longer supported by Apple on PCs due to security issues. Other than using a convertor to convert the file to another format (which you may have to end up doing), this is the only alternative I know that might work:
- Install QuickTime on your machine. If it’s already installed, remove it and re-install it.
- Try importing the file again in Premiere.
The issue is to do with codecs. The original .mov was most likely encoded with a QuickTime codec that your computer cannot understand. Adobe Premiere on PC no longer includes the QuickTime codecs (as Apple no longer supports it).
Anyway, this is just a suggestion. Hope it works, worth a try. Keep in mind that there may be security issues with QuickTime on a PC, use with caution.
