Can I use a theme in two different environments?

I have a website running The Gem theme on a live webhost
I’m wondering if I can migrate the whole website to a localhost and have it running on both local and live host
I intend to use a Plugin called “All In One WP Migration” to do the migration

Will I have any problems with it?

Thanks

I don’t have an answer, but I’m “replying” so I can see what the answer might be. I have the exact same theme and staging site dilemma.

Hi @wellra,

You can use the theme in both localhost and live server because it is the same end product. But you can’t use the theme in 2 different domain/website.

Thanks

Ok… Now how can we transfer domains? Cancel the first one and register the second one…?

Yes, you need to deregister your purchase code on one domain and activate it on another. You can look at the https://codex-themes.com/thegem/documentation/ and find section “Theme Deactivation”. Also as @mgscoder said you can use one license on localhost and on live site, but you should contact theme author before and explain what you want.

If it is for another domain mean a new end product then you have to purchase a new license according to envato license term. each license will be valid for a single end product.

If you need to transfer hosting but same domain then you have to unregister/deactivate the theme license from the old domain/website (wp-admin).

Hi guys, please check this https://codex-themes.com/thegem/documentation/#license-terms . I hope this explains everything concerning the localhost/staging/live installations. Just follow the naming rules and everything will be fine.
