Is it legal for me to incorporate music that is in the public domain in to one of my pieces? For example, if I made some kind of remix of King Oliver’s Riverside Blues, would that be acceptable to Audiojungle’s terms?
As I understand it, according to UK copyright law a recording becomes public domain 70 years after the death of the composer. King Oliver died in 1938, so Riverside Blues became public domain in 2008 in the UK. I’ve just read that US copyright law is different, and that no recordings will become public domain until 2067!?
I’m UK based, so do I need to worry about US law? I’m confused!
