Can I Exchange an Abandoned Theme License?

Hey guys,

I’m in a bit of a jam here and could use some advice. I bought the Bimber theme for my WordPress site over a year ago, thinking it would be a great long-term solution. But now, the theme hasn’t been updated in ages (like, over a year), and it’s just not compatible with the latest WordPress versions anymore.

Because of this, I’m basically stuck. I paid for a lifetime license, and now I have a theme that I can’t use unless I buy a whole new one, which doesn’t seem fair since it’s not my fault the theme got abandoned.

I’m looking at Boombox as a replacement since it’s priced the same as Bimber. I’m wondering if Envato could help me out here and swap my Bimber license for Boombox. Given the circumstances, I think it’s a pretty reasonable request.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, or does anyone know the best way to go about asking for this? Any help or advice would be awesome.

Thanks!
Idan

Unfortunately it’s in envato’s buyer terms that they cannot guarantee item access or life span.

If you’d bought it very recently then you may have been able to refund it, but after over a year it’s very unlikely you would be successful.

You cannot even request refund after 180 days. You should consider to get a new license by purchasing the new item. Envato’s system doesn’t work like that and they cannot offer replacement.

If you still want to use the current theme, you can invest some money for custom work to get it updated.

Hi,
I have the same problem with The Ark theme from Freshface. The theme has disappeared from themeforest and is no longer updated. This is unfortunate because I have several sites made with this theme. I don’t know if I will continue to buy a theme from themeforest in the future.
Have a nice day!

Lifetime support/update is not an option for most authors…

Here I was not talking about the support which allows you to resolve the problems encountered, but rather about the updating of the theme made by the developer once or several times a year.
