Can anyone explain the Themeforest image preview sizes to me?

I’m a new theme author and currently preparing my preview images. I’m a bit confused about the image sizes I’m allowed to upload.

I read the following in this help guide:

Preview Image Set

You can provide additional preview images. They must be JPGs no larger than 900x900px , and named in the order that you want them to appear using the following format:

01_preview1.jpg, 02_preview2.jpg, 03_closeup.jpg .

Create a .zip folder containing your additional preview images.

Is it correct that I may upload as many images as I like, but with a maximum dimension of 900x900px and that those images show below each other?

But how is that done with the resolution? 900px is not really big. And when I view a theme on Themeforest, open up the browser inspector I see images with dimensions like 2200 x 5000px high. Can anyone explain to me how this works?

Many thanks!

Ignore that 900x900px requirement, that is nonsense.

Just make sure your 01_something.jpg image is 590x300px - that is the main banner image and keep the rest of your screenshots in native resolution.

Ok thanks! So the size and the amount doesn’t matter in any way?

Only for the first one, not the rest of them.
