• Double-click the Adobe Illustrator icon on your desktop to open the program. Click the File drop-down and select the “New” option.
• Choose the size and color mode for the file and then click the “OK” button.
• Click the File drop-down and then select the “Place” option. Choose the “All Formats” from the Files of Type menu when the Place dialog box appears.
• Select the damaged Illustrator file and then click “Place.” Enter a new name for the file and then click “Save.” This will create a new Illustrator file with information from the damaged file.
