I used to use 4 or 5 songs for any video, to do more cinematic my content. For that reason, y have an envato subscription.
But I’m not happy at all how YouTube and some authors manage the copyright claims. Sometimes the dispute take days to resolve or even expire, even when I’ve contacted with them several times.
My last claim for “Elite Alliance Music” and author “alexbird”. After 8 days still there, I contacted with both but nothing.
The system by which authors have to manually verify each claim seems so archaic to me. It’s not that difficult to create an API to link your Envato account to YouTube, so YouTube can verify if you have the music licence and that it hasn’t been used in other videos, without the author having to intervene. If there’s a problem with the verification, then a claim will be opened. This manual verification has nonsense at all. And a manual check is not a necessary right to protect copyrighted content.
It’s unacceptable for a claim to be resolved in more than two days, based on the author’s professionalism. It harms your workflow and causes financial losses.
They can even ignore it for 30 days (two times to me already), creating financial damages that can’t be claimed from either party.
I think I’ll not renew my subscription and look for other free solutions. At the end the authors will be the most affected.
