I’ve just received a notice from AJ saying their standards were not met.

Yes, the mixing/mastering needs a lot of work.
You currently have almost no low end, and no power, thereby making it “not epic”. 
The composition is fine but you need to start from the beginning with the sounds, mixing and mastering.
Analyze the frequencies of a similar track that you like, and know is professionally mixed.
