Addison WP theme. Get a critical error on the website after WP 6.2 update.

ADDiSON Architecture theme gets a critical error after the latest WP update from 6.1.1 to 6.2. Can’t activate the existing theme. The website is shootdown for a week. GoDaddy support couldn’t help? According to them, they opened the ticket to the team provider. This team has a limited support time that is over. I am not sure by buying a new license will fix the issue, which will be back after the next WP update. What are your suggestions?

The suggestion would be downgrade the WordPress or restore the backup.

My first suggestion is to contact the author of the theme - if you are out of support time, then speak to the author and see if they can help, or extend your support period with them. As the purchaser of the item, it is your responsibility to open a support ticket, not your hosting support team.

Hey ki, the hosting side is not capable of downgrading shared WP. There was the first easy option. Tnx

@123Simples: I tried to help reanimate the website even if it was not my customer anymore, but I will follow your suggestion with an unsupported license to contact 3rd party retailers to fix the issue till future crises. I will consider twice using the items with a limited supported license.

Are you sure you are using the latest copy of the theme as well as WP 6.2? @BoldThemes (who by the way are one of the most respected authors on envato) released an update on March 31st in which they fixed an issue with WP 6.2!

I find it a little hard to believe that GoDaddy would have gone to the trouble of contacting Bold theme’s support or that the author would share confidential customer status/info with them.

Hey @charlie4282, yes, I am sure regarding WP. The GoDaddy WP is automatically updated to 6.2 across all shared hosting. I am using the 1.3.0 theme version. There is no option to update the theme or the child theme. I can not hit even the on-the-in-life mode view. Any click on the theme under Appearance crashed the website without an option to log in to the admin console. Can you share the article?

You are over a year out of date - 99% sure that is the problem https://documentation.bold-themes.com/changelog/addison-changelog.txt

You need to download the latest copy of the theme and install that. Assuming you didn’t make any modifications to the core files then you shouldn’t lose anything but working or not probably best to run a back up either way

[/quote] I spent an hour half on the phone with the support team clearing the cache and twice deactivating the plugins and themes - that is what I was told in the end.

It’s irrelevant - you are using a version from March 2021. There have been over 10 releases since then.

You have to update to the copy which was created for 6.2

@charlie4282 Oh, yea! I assume there is a licensing-wise issue. There was unsupported, and I need to renew or buy it. I let you know how it goes. Thanks

@charlie4282 So! this is the result for now:
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme installation failed.

If you already purchased the theme then just go into your downloads WordPress Themes & Website Templates from ThemeForest and download the latest copy

Install the theme not the entire download https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/202821510-Theme-is-missing-the-style-css-stylesheet-error
