Hello, I am a mobile game developer. My product that I published on Codecanyon sold 3 units this week. There was one sale reversal. I think some users have found a way to download files without paying. What I’m wondering is, does Envato protect sellers’ rights regarding this issue?
Does Envato impose any sanctions on users who sale reversal multiple times after downloading the product? So shouldn’t Envato impose sanctions on users who exploit a security vulnerability?
Envato have zero control over sales reversals as it does not involve them.
That said, where this happens or items are refunded etc access to the item or in some cases the whole profile is removed.
Normally, when a sale reversal occurs, the buyer’s Envato account gets locked, preventing access to any previously purchased files. To regain access, they must resolve the issue with Envato. Additionally, the payment card or method used for the purchase may be blacklisted. There are numerous threads on the Envato forum where users report their accounts being locked, and in most cases, it’s due to a sale reversal. Even attempting to create a new account may not work.

If I read this right, you are the seller yes? You published a product on Codecanyon, which resulted so far in having 3 sales, and then out of those 3 sold, a buyer claimed a refund or Envato made a sale reversal because a buyer fraudently used credit card or debit card, or paypal not belonging to them.
Unfortunately there are probably many people who will buy an item, download it, then claim a refund, or a sale reversal is made. Whilst this does not help the seller of that item, as @charlie4282 and @baevox have stated, then Envato will lock that buyer out so they cannot keep doing it time and time again with multiple items across the marketplace.
Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done - its annoying but that is the risk of selling digital items on any online platform.
Thank you very much for your answers. Now I understand the issue more clearly.
Hello! Envato does provide some protection for sellers, including addressing chargebacks and fraud. They have systems in place to detect and prevent unauthorized downloads, but the platform’s ability to prevent all exploits is not foolproof. Repeated sale reversals can lead to sanctions, and users who engage in fraudulent activity may be banned. If you suspect a security vulnerability, it’s a good idea to report it to Envato’s support for further investigation.
