I believe that 2minute requirement for 19$ is what really ruins the quality of tracks,so many songs here are nice but boring in the end because they are prolonged over two minutes when they are really only 1 minute worth. And in commercials and videos you never actually hear 2minutes its always 15sec at most, and than they change the song or finish the video/ad. So forcing authors to make 2 minutes songs when there is only material for a nice 1min track is not good in my opinion.
No one is forcing anyone to do so. You can make a 15$ track instead.
Yes you are right. You don’t have to make songs at all,no one is forcing you to that either
Not to mention the 3+ minutes pop songs on the radio, completely ruins the quality
I have a 7-minute track that is my all-time best-seller. Length is tricky. It’s hard to anticipate what length a client would need. In the end all you can do is try to cover all possibilities, long and short. And @OvertSounds is right, no one forces us to write 2-minute tracks, we write what we choose. It’s up to each artist to evaluate how lengthy a song should be based on the creative material at hand. It shouldn’t be about the money.
Worth mentioning that at 7 minutes long it’s still only $19, the same as a 2-3 minute track. So as long as the music is varied and interesting, the longer you make it the better value for the customer. But anyway, I really don’t understand the point of this thread- as OvertSounds has said, nobody is forced to make 2+ minute tracks. If people want to make boring 2-3 minute songs for $19, let them. Then you can make the same quality track 1-2 minutes long for $15 and undercut them and sell more. Why the complaining?
That’s why you have the option to upload additional track lengths… so no one is forced to create or use only a 2 minute track.
And personally I would never create a track that goes over 2 minutes just for the 4 dollars… if it’s 1:59 long, i keep it like that.
my best seller is a logo stringer just some seconds long!
keep in mind that songs here exists because they have to work under a video, so they have to stands at different standards with respect to “standard” songs that you listen for personal pleasure
Me personally, i just don’t think of how long my song is gonna be…
My portfolio has all kinds of lengths and every track has it’s on reason to be long or short!
Plus it really helps to have a long song, then offer a short version too, so that you can have all the would be client’s queries covered!
Yea I agree. I don’t tend to think about how long a song is going to be when I start writing it. Whatever ends up coming out is what I feel the length of that particular song should be. If it IS too long…or on the longer side, then I give cut down versions in case they are needed.
